The first-ever survey of short films and performance documentation by Zackary Drucker (b. 1983) and her collaborators, exploring 12 years in the career of a groundbreaking American transgender multimedia artist, LGBT activist, actress, and producer of the award-winning television show, Transparent. A conversation with Drucker and USC Professor in Art and Design and Vice Dean of Critical Studies Amelia Jones will follow the screening. Curated by Darin Klein for DIRTY LOOKS: ON LOCATION
Zackary Drucker’s photographs, films, and performances have been presented at institutions, venues and festivals internationally and across the US, and at local venues including the Hammer Museum, Luis De Jesus Los Angeles, MOCA, and REDCAT. Her work has been reviewed in publications including Los Angeles TimesThe New York Times, and Art in America.

This program is a centerpiece screening for DIRTY LOOKS: ON LOCATION, a sweeping, month-long film and performance festival presenting art in thriving queer community spaces or locales with hidden queer pasts. Taking the summer in stride, this truly experimental time-based arts festival aims to better blend the social with the cultural, engaging city venues to bring to light the complex relationships between sexuality, culture, gentrification, and forgotten or suppressed queer histories in unlikely and affective ways. Full schedule at www.dirtylooksla.org
